Located in Harney County, Oregon, and tucked into the Steens Mountain rain shadow, the Alvord Desert is one of the most isolated and unique land formations in the state.

Steens Mountain rises up from the sagebrush desert to nearly 10,000 feet. This 59-mile loop includes the highest road in Oregon, traveling around and up this grand Great Basin landmark.
